Sri Modhusudan Dey started it. (Specific date not known.) Born in 1919, died during the liberation war in 26th march 1971.

Modhu’s Canteen is the place of many historical events, place of many political party meeting.



{February 6, 2009}   Guidance and Employment Bureau:

The Dhaka University Employment Bureau was started in 1939-40. Its object was to procure jobs for the qualified students of the University. In course of time its scope was enlarged and it developed into Guidance and Employment Bureau in 1962. The Guidance and Employment Bureau functions in collaboration with the Teacher-Student Center. In addition to helping the Director of the Center to co-ordinate student’s extra-curricular activities, the Bureau’s main responsibilities are:
Orientation of new students
Development and preservation of cumulative record of each student.
Assessment of individual traits through psychological testing, and
Counseling students in their personal problems.

With a view to help the teachers to increase their efficiency in teaching and research, the Dhaka University authorities provided them with facilities for higher education in foreign Universities. Every year several teachers were given study leave. This facility enabled many teachers of this University to get higher education and obtained research degrees from the Universities of the United Kingdom and other European countries. And some teachers also go to India, Japan, Australia, Canada and even USA for their higher education.

The Dhaka University Press was founded in 1950. Its object was to serve the printing requirements of the University, the publications of the research works of the teachers and printing documents and other essential materials of the University. The University Press has now developed into an important part of the academic life of the University Of Dhaka. In 1977 the Press was modernized with the latest printing machines.
